3 Reasons Renting A Storage Unit As A Student Makes Sense

Jenny Shaw

As a student away at college, you often don't have a lot of space to yourself. Perhaps you live in a small dorm room on campus, or maybe you rent or share a room with someone off-campus. Either way, your personal space is usually limited to either half a bedroom or a full bedroom. Renting a student storage unit will give you access to a lot more space.

Seasonal Clothing Storage

You may have a closet in your room at school, but you probably don't have room for a complete set of dressers. You more than likely have limited space for storing your clothing items, which is why seasonal clothing storage can be so nice to have.

With a storage unit, you can pack up your clothing that you are not using right now in plastic bins and swap out your clothing with the seasons. That way, you don't have to give up all the clothing that doesn't fit in your room or carry stuff back and forth from your parent's home to your college campus. A storage unit can provide you with some excellent seasonal clothing storage.

Space for Hobby Equipment

If you have a hobby that you engage in, such as skiing in the winter, playing lacrosse in the spring, woodworking, or playing in a band, you will need somewhere to store your equipment. Your room may not have enough space for you to store your hobby equipment, but you will have room in your storage space.

Valuables

You may have valuable items that you want to bring to college but don't want to keep with you in your shared housing. Perhaps you have a collection of journals you want to keep with you or photo albums with pictures from home. You can keep those items safe in your student storage unit. If you have valuables that you want to keep safe, you may want to rent a climate-controlled storage unit to ensure that those items are protected.

Easier Moving

Moving in and out of your dorm room or rental will be easier when you have a storage unit. You will not have to worry about where to put your stuff in between time in the dorm or time in rental houses when you have a storage unit. You will always have somewhere to put your stuff.

As a student, it makes a lot of sense to rent a storage unit. You can use it as a space to store extra clothing, keep your hobby items, protect your valuables, and have a space to put your stuff if you are ever between dorm rooms or rentals.
