4 Things You Must Do When Using Storage Container Services

Jenny Shaw

When moving to a new house, you need to pack up all your belongings for shipment. If you're unable to move in right away, you'll need to find somewhere to store your things until your move-in day arrives. A storage container service can help you easily pack and store your things. A storage container company can even take care of the shipment portion of the moving process. Here are four things you'll need to do when utilizing storage container services:

1. Choose the storage container size that you require.

Storage container rentals come in small and large sizes. Your storage bill will be based on the square footage you require and the length of time you plan to utilize storage services. Choose the smallest size container that can accommodate all your belongings. 12-foot storage containers are usually large enough to hold the contents of an entire house. People who are moving out of apartments or those who only need to store the contents of a single room can utilize smaller storage containers.

2. Specify the drop-off location.

Storage containers are big and heavy, which means they need to be moved using large trucks. The storage container rental company will deal with transporting your cargo. When you're ready to receive your empty storage container, simply schedule a drop-off. Give the company your address and choose a delivery time when you'll be home. Make sure there is adequate room for the storage container before its arrival.

3. Pack your belongings.

When you rent a storage container, you won't need to load your belongings into your car to take them to a storage facility. You can simply walk outside your home and place your boxes into the container. You can keep the storage container at your home for as long as you need to, so there's no need to rush. Take as much time as you require to pack. Go through your house to make sure you packed everything you plan to put in storage. Use a padlock or combination lock to secure your belongings, keeping them safe while they're outside your house.

4. Schedule storage container pickup.

When you're finished packing your storage container, simply call the rental company to pick it up. You can have the storage container immediately taken to its final destination if you're ready to move into your new home. Otherwise, you can have the company store your container until you're ready to retrieve your belongings.
